United Way of Weld County (UWWC) is accepting donations for disasters, including the Colorado wildfires. As always, with disasters, 100 percent of the donations will be passed onto the United Way of that area or a lead organization identified to accept such donations in the United States.
The donor needs to name the communities they want their designation to go to for help. The donor can do this by letting United Way of Weld County know in writing in the memo section of their check or by writing this on a pledge card.
“This is our standard response to any inquiry from a donor wanting to give to an area that has experienced a disaster,” said Jeannine Truswell, president and CEO of UWWC. “We want to make this easy for our donors and offer to accept funds and pass them on to the community they name.”
For example, United Way of Larimer County and Mile High United Way have or are accepting donations for the fires in Larimer and Boulder counties and passing the funds to help residents in the impacted areas.
“Weld County donors certainly may send their donations directly, however in each case we would accept the funds and send 100 percent of the donations onto each of those United Ways,” Truswell said.
