Meet Joe

Joe, a Vietnam veteran, lived outdoors in Greeley and Evans for 20+ years. First presenting at the United Way Housing Navigation Center asking for hygiene items, he soon became a regular guest but kept to himself because of distrust of others. Eventually Joe agreed to get help to get back into housing, beginning by sharing what assistance he needed to stay housed. Staff worked with Joe to keep on track, doing big tasks like accompanying him to apartment showings and little such as returning his wallet and ID that he absent-mindedly left behind. Now Joe lives in Fort Collins in housing that provides the support he needs.
