United Way of Weld County is launching a new strategic plan, one designed to strengthen partnerships and to create a sustainable future where every household in Weld County has the opportunity to succeed.
With its new mission, “Building powerful partnerships to bring about lasting community-wide change,” United Way will focus on enhancing collaboration across key sectors and engaging the entire community in meaningful work that addresses today’s most pressing challenges.
“United Way of Weld County’s strength has always been in building relationships and making connections so that we can meet the evolving needs of our community,” said Melanie Woolman, president & CEO. “This plan is a reflection of our ongoing dedication to finding innovative solutions that empower our neighbors, increase opportunity and create a more resilient and equitable Weld County.”
The new direction aligns the needs of the community and the strengths of United Way. Staff will convene and facilitate communications between partners to prevent duplication of efforts and to identify gaps. This shift allows United Way to be more focused and efficient in its work while at the same time providing a benefit to the community that no others can offer.
“United Way has done work like this for many years,” noted Woolman. “The difference this time is that we will increase and focus the majority of our resources on these convening and problem-solving efforts.”
To more fully focus on addressing community-wide challenges, United Way will work with the community to strategically divest its direct service programs over the next few years. For instance, on homelessness, rather than focusing on only housing navigation and sheltering services, after divesting of the Housing Navigation Center, United Way will be able to resource and support the entire homelessness prevention and response system.
As part of this effort, United Way invites community members, business leaders and local organizations to join in building a brighter future for Weld County.
“This strategic plan will serve as our blueprint for progress over the next several years,” added Angel Flores, Chair of United Way’s board of directors. “It represents our unwavering commitment to uplifting every household in Weld County and ensuring that all individuals have access to the resources and support they need to succeed.”
