Child Development

There are interventions and supportive programs to help parents and caregivers counterbalance the negative cognitive effects of prolonged and significant adversity. These can help parents and caregivers plan for their families and build nurturing, strong, healthy relationships.


  • Ability Connection Colorado: Parenting Resources parenting resources for parents/families with a child with a disability
  • Bright by Text Bright by Text provides free tips, information, and resources to help all parents and caregivers give every child a bright   beginning. Text “BRIGHT” to 274448
  • CDC – Centers for Disease Control helping parents, health professionals, educators & others work together as partners to help children grow up to reach their full potential
  • Child Development Institute, LLC expert articles and tips about child development
  • Child Find evaluation in a variety of areas contact local school districts
  • Child Trauma Academy articles on prevention of harmful childhood experiences that influence brain development & well-being for life
  • Colorado Department of Education: Parents/Families of a Child with a disability Provides information on special education issues, practices, and resources to families who have children with disabilities
  • Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines resources to assist with developmental milestones
  • Colorado Shines Professional Development Information System Free trainings for individuals taking care of children  
  • Envision community centered board contracts with professionals to provider services such as occupational, physical or speech therapy The W’s of Intervention

  • Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado Universal Preschool (UPK) Colorado allows families to choose the right setting for their child, whether it is in a licensed community-based, school-based or home-based preschool setting. Families of children in the year before they are eligible for kindergarten, and qualifying 3-year-olds, can apply now for UPK Colorado
  • Weld County Children with Special Health Care Needs program for children and youth with special health care needs
  • WHALE Respite Center serve children of ALL abilities and their families respite services
