Sofia cares for her neighbors’ children along with her own son; as she started caring for more children, Sofia was interested in learning more about how to prepare them for school, as well as how to run her expanding home-based business. Because her English isn’t very good, Sofia was too nervous to sign up for a college class, but when she heard about the PASO Institute, a training program specifically for Spanish-only speaking child care providers, she thought she would give it a try. Not only did Sofia learn from PASO and earn her Child Development Associate certificate, she developed a network of friends on whom she can rely.
Are you like Sofia? Are you caring for the children of your family, friends or neighbors while they go to work? Would you like to learn how to be a better child care provider so that the children you are caring for will do better in kindergarten?
The PASO Institute works with people like you, family, friend and neighbor child care providers that offer child care in their homes. Right here in Greeley and Weld County, it offers 120 hours of early childhood care and education training during weekend classes that help you help your children be better prepared for school success. The classes are offered by United Way of Weld County. The cost is only $50 for 15 weeks of classes. If you can’t afford the cost we may be able to help.
