The legacy of Fred Bauer—a respected banker, committed volunteer, and passionate advocate for a thriving Weld County—will be honored at the Fred Bauer Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Eaton Country Club.
This special event is more than just a day of golf. Participants will enjoy a beautiful round of golf, a great meal and a helicopter golf ball drop with fun prize opportunities in celebration of Fred’s lasting impact on the Northern Colorado community. Additionally, there is a hole-in-one car giveaway sponsored by Weld County Garage. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit United Way of Weld County, a cause that was deeply important to Fred.
Fred Bauer began his influential banking career after graduating from the Colorado School of Banking. Over the decades, he became a well-known figure in Northern Colorado’s financial community. He worked at several locally owned banks and helped grow Farmers Bank in Ault, which later expanded to Fort Collins. Fred served as President of Farmers Bank until his retirement and remained on the Board of Directors until his passing in 2024.
Beyond his professional success, Fred’s dedication to community service was equally significant. He served on the Board of Directors for the Independent Bankers of Colorado from 2003 to 2009, including as Chairman in 2008 and 2009. A long-time supporter of United Way of Weld County, Fred and his wife Sherri served as United Way co-chairs in 2005, helping raise awareness and critical support for local causes.
Fred also gave generously of his time to civic and service organizations. He was an active member of Kiwanis of the Rockies, served as President and Vice President of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Greeley, and contributed to the Greeley Stampede Committee for seven years—including a term as chairman in 1990. He cherished his continued volunteer work as an “Old Bucker” for many years following.
The Fred Bauer Memorial Golf Tournament is organized by Fred’s family, including his brother Jerry Bauer and daughters Sarah Baessler and Katie Westphal, with sponsorship from Farmers Bank of Ault.
Fred’s spirit of generosity and community involvement continues to inspire, and this tournament is a tribute to the values he lived by. Join us in remembering a remarkable man and supporting the future of Weld County.
