Best Start for Babies

Did you know that 85% of a child’s intellect, personality and social skills are developed during the first 3 years? Do you want to know more about your baby’s development and how you can help her or him learn and grow?

Best Start for Babies and Toddlers is a series of 10 classes that provide education and support for parents to feel more confident in their ability to respond to their children in healthy and positive ways. Pre-session test results show significant deficits in knowledge and self-efficacy, while analysis of post-session survey data indicates that participants show a significant improvement in knowledge of child development and parental skill set. Parents that attend eight or more sessions improve on both measures whereas those that attend seven or fewer tended to not show changes on at least one of the measures.

Goal 1: Increase parents’ knowledge of child development—75% of participants will show an increase in knowledge.
Goal 2: Improve parents’ attitudes about being parents—75% of participants will show an increase in positive attitude.
Goal 3: Increase social support and social connections among parents in a similar situation—75% of participants will feel welcomed and engaged with peers and instructors.

The program is available at no cost in Weld and Larimer Counties for parents who are pregnant or have a child 0-3 years of age. Classes are offered in English and Spanish.
