Here are just a few of the results of generous contributions to United Way of Weld County.
Resource Development
· Raised $3.2 million in the 2006-07 community-wide campaign. Companies, employees, individuals and private foundations gave generously with an average corporate/business gift of $2,980 and average employee/individual gift of $266.
· Received $318,000 worth of In Kind products, including office supplies, computers, women’s professional clothing and discount prescription cards, these In Kind donations benefited 56 non-profit organizations and their clients.
· Received $485,000 in grant revenue from the El Pomar Foundation, Points of Light, Walt Disney Foundation, Caring for Colorado Foundation, Qualistar, Tony Grampsus Youth Services, Target, Daniels Fund, Americorps, Weld County, City of Greeley, NCMC Foundation, and the Community Foundation serving Greeley and Weld County.
· 8,105 contributors participated in the Flood of Cache and $20,000 car voucher incentives thanks to Cache Bank & Trust, Flood & Peterson Insurance, Inc., Weld County Garage, Ghent Motor Company, Ehrlich Family of Dealerships, Garnsey & Wheeler Ford and Honda of Greeley.
· Launched the Cornerstone Partners Program with eleven initial commitments to pay for United Way of Weld County administrative and fundraising cost. Because of these founding Cornerstone Partners, more of each donation will go toward helping people.
· 679 individuals contributed at the leadership giving level of $750.00 or more participating in the United Way Tillers Club for a total amount of $1,400,940. 14 individuals/couples are in the 2006-07 Tocqueville Society with gifts of $10,000 or more.
Early Childhood Development and School Readiness
· Hosted the Love to Learn Child Care Conference in February with 265 child care providers attending learning best practices and taking seminars on quality care.
· Conducted 5 Family Literacy Carnivals at area elementary schools with over nine hundred families in attendance.
· Provided three Parent Education Symposiums to teach parenting skills and help empower parent responsibility. We’re proud to report that 250 parents attended these workshops.
· Received public and statewide recognition from Colorado Lt. Governor Barbara O’Brien for Promises for Children and the outcome of our work: The number of low income women receiving pre-natal care increased from 89.6 to 96.4%.
Youth Success/Supporting Increased Graduation Rates
· Provided 850 scholarships for disadvantaged children and youth to attend recreation programs in rural areas throughout Weld County. Often these are the only opportunities for after school youth development in these communities.
· Received an Americorps grant to place 10 full time employees at youth agencies and programs. United Way invested $50,000 to receive this grant valued at $250,000.
· 6,668 youth participated in youth development programming at organizations like Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boys and Girls Clubs thanks to United Way of Weld County grants in 2006-07.
Safety Net Services/Assisting People Through Crisis
· Facilitated the local EFSP federal grant which brought $110,489 for food and shelter programs
· Partnered with the City of Greeley to provide 12,000 bus tokens to clients of non-profit agencies.
· Provide free space for the AARP Tax Service Program which helps low to moderate income households, the elderly and disabled prepare income tax forms.
Access to Services
· United Way 211 answered over 30,000 calls from individuals seeking information and referral on health and human services.
· United Way 211 received statewide recognition from the Colorado Division of Energy Management for outstanding support and service to people and disaster personnel during the blizzards of December 2006.
· Launched the Tapestry system for 211 Info line and 1-800 volunteers for the 211 Volunteer Center. These systems allow for an integrated approach to information and referral and increasing volunteerism in our community.
Building Self Sufficiency and Self-Reliance
· Strengthened our partnership with the Faith Community Service Fund to help families struggling to become financially independent.
· Developed the Champions Program, a collaborative effort of four agencies who are working together to move families and adults to self sufficiency.
Also proud of
· Involved over 800 volunteers serving on United Way Committees, advisory groups, events and activities and carrying out day to day operations.
· Brought Tony Melendez to the community to give a concert that raised $4,500 for the Faith Community Service Fund.
· Proudly partnered with the Weld County Department of Social Services and Weld County Department of Human Services Headstart on the Supporting Healthy Marriages Program.
· Sponsored four workshops for non-profit personnel to attend on management, accountability, safety and human resources.
· Developed and adapted an organizational disaster plan which is now being used as a model for other United Ways.
