GLOBAL REFUGEE CENTER
Opportunity Title: ESL Teachers
The Global Refugee Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance to refugees of 23 different countries that are now living in Greeley, Colorado. We offer ESL, GED, citizenship, driving, and computer classes. We also assist the refugees in getting jobs, housing, finance, and health. We are looking for an ESL teacher who is 18 or older who can teach one level of ESL (7 levels available) daily. The duties required are to teach a set of lesson plans for each day, record attendance, call a designated substitute teacher if needed. Training will be provided which includes an orientation, tour, history and mission of the GRC, introduction to staff and volunteers, and a detailed description of duties and expectations from the GRC. 7 Teaching Spots Available, 10am-12pm at least one day/week, preferably 2-3 days/week for 1 ESL Semester (Fall, Spring, Summer). Qualifications: Desire to teach Greeley’s newest arrivals English. Experience teaching preferable but not required. At least an Associates degree, BA/BS (or pursuing) in Education, Social Sciences, Human Services, Sociology, International Studies, etc. Must be a flexible self-starter who works well in a fast-paced environment and wants to get to know members of Greeley’s diverse refugee population. Bilingual volunteers welcomed.

BEST START FOR BABIES
Opportunity Title: Intern
Best Start for Babies/Toddlers (BSB/T) is an intensive, parent education program in Larimer and Weld Counties in Colorado. It is an innovative, collaborative program that teaches parents about the importance of positive development in the early years of a child's life. The sessions are 10 weekly classes at 3 hours each and are available to pregnant parents or those with a child under 3 years old.
Description of volunteer needs: Assist with BSB/T class logistics, including planning for classes, arranging meals, and preparing giveaway prizes; Attend planning meetings with BSB/T staff; attend BSB/T classes to assist trainers and provide support to families; assist with child care at BSB/T classes when needed; conduct follow up calls with Families; accompany BSB/T trainers on home visits conducted when families are unable to attend classes; shadow Community Partners of BSB/T; assist with BSB/T fundraising efforts and grant writing; write articles for newsletters or draft press releases; assist with training logistics and participating in trainings, depending on the intern’s interest; assist with other Promises for Children programs, i.e. Bright Beginnings, Child Care Resource and Referral, etc.; attend monthly Promises for Children Advisory Council meetings or other committee meetings. Partners Mentoring Youth
Opportunity Title: Senior Partners and Activity Volunteers
Description of volunteer needs: Partners mentoring Youth is a local youth serving agency. Adult volunteers, age 21 and over needed to be matched, one-to-one w/ a youth, ages 7-17 years old, boys and girls, in a 3 hour/week, year long relationship. Activity volunteers can be 18 years or older, but to transport youth, must be 21 years old. Activity volunteers work strictly w/ the waiting youth and are not matched one on one. Commitment for activity volunteers may be 1-2 activities a month, usually in the evening or Saturday. There is a screening process, which includes a background check, for all volunteers working directly w/youth. Needs bilingual volunteers.

Volunteer bell ringers would ring at a kettle at a kettle location of their choice or at a random location. They would be responsible over the kettle and watch over it. Every year The Salvation Army helps give Christmas to many struggling low income families in our community. We do this by collecting donated toys and distributing them to registered families. Once we receive the toys they need to be organized and put in order for the day of distribution. On the day of distribution the families who have signed up come to our warehouse at their appointed time and get their bags. Volunteers are needed to find the family bag and to help them to their vehicles if needed. The volunteer s on this day are the face of The Salvation Army to each family and it is there job to share the joy of Christmas with each family! Youth volunteers 16+ unsupervised, 10+ supervised.
