Sarah came to the safe house in the middle of the night with her three young children. Sarah had been with a very controlling man for over 10 years and finally decided to leave one night after he had attacked her in front of the children. The advocates were able to provide Sarah with clothing and other necessary supplies for her and her children that night. The first thing Sarah did was work with the Legal Advocate to obtain a protection order against her abuser. After Sarah felt safe enough to go out she began working with the safe house advocates to find resources for housing, daycare, and a job. After 30 days in the program Sarah was able to find a job that paid enough to afford a small apartment for her and her children. Sarah continued to come to the safe house for non-resident counseling services for her and her children and expressed her great appreciation for all of the support and guidance the advocates provided for her both during and after her stay.
