Emergency Operations and Long Term Recovery
During a disaster in our region, United Way of Weld County will have a presence at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Being present at the EOC ensures that up to the minute disaster information is fed back to the United Way 2-1-1 Info-Line Call Center. This process allows the 211 Call Specialists to give up to the minute situational updates to callers that require help or want to help during a disaster.
United Way of Weld County is also chartered to deploy volunteers through its Volunteer Resource Center. The volunteers are deployed during the response phase and the recovery phase of a disaster. Because United Way of Weld County is involved with disaster recovery it will have representatives on the disaster Long Term Recovery Committee to ensure that victims of the tornado are cared for and that volunteers are deployed when and where needed.
The United Way of Weld County 211 Infoline and the Volunteer Resource Center are critical resources during the response phase and the long term recovery phase of a disaster. These two resources were successfully deployed and utilized during the May 22nd, 2008 Northern Colorado Tornados disaster and as part of the long term recovery.
