Earned Income Tax Credit & the Piton Foundation

Earned Income Tax Credit and The Piton Foundation's Campaign

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a federal tax credit that helps low-income working families.  It rewards low and moderate income families for their hard work and helps them close the gap between what they earn and what they need to get by and get ahead by returning additional federal taxes back to them.  The amount is based on how much people earn and the number of qualifying children.

The Piton Foundation manages a comprehensive campaign to help make people aware of this tax credit and to connect them to free tax preparation programs.  United Way of Weld County partners with the Piton Foundation through our 2-1-1 program.  People seeking information on EITC are directed to 2-1-1.  United Way 2-1-1 call specialists can answer questions on EITC and refer callers to tax preparation programs in our region.
