United Way assures accountability of community funds contributed through the Resource Investment/Citizens Review process. Each year over 30 volunteers undertake the difficult task of reviewing supported agencies and programs that support the Community Impact Agenda adopted by the Board of Directors. Through a series of open community conversations and data review, United Way of Weld County adopted a Community Impact Agenda with five priorities that address School Readiness, Positive Youth Development, Stabilizing Families and Individuals and moving them toward Self-Sufficiency. In addition, United Way of Weld County is committed to providing access to community services through the 2-1-1 Information and Referral Program. Every two years, non-profit organizations are invited to participate in a Request for Proposal process to help address unmet needs in each of the priority areas. The Committee then spends hours analyzing the information and recommends a level of funding for programming. To assure focus on meeting community needs, United Way provides programmatic rather than agency funding. The other important role of this process is follow-up by the committee. Two committee members visit each of the grantee agencies to determine how the program outcomes are progressing. The committee also reviews quarterly reports for each supported agency and program are to assure accountability for the funds distributed and resolve issues.
