Investing in our community through United Way makes sense. United Way of Weld County takes your contribution seriously. We know you have many options, but through your annual contribution to the United Way campaign, you touch the lives of one out of four people in Weld County - a friend, a colleague, a family member. United Way of Weld County facilitates county-wide needs assessment. Results are used to 1) direct set priorities and determine focus of community impact, 2) develop special and venture grant funding programs, 3) develop community problem solving/community building agenda and 4) identify areas that need further study and assessment From review of the data, Committee volunteers make recommendations to the United Way of Weld County Board of Directors regarding priority and focus. Present priorities are: Positive Early Childhood Experience: Ages 0-8 • Early Literacy and School Readiness • Quality Child Care • Health: Physical, Emotional and Intellectual Wellbeing • Parent Education and Training Positive Youth Development: Ages 8-18 • Positive Youth Development and Increased Graduation Rates • Quality Before & After School Opportunities • Preparing Youth for Life Long Success Strengthening Families and Helping People Achieve Self Sufficiency • Economic Stability • Developing Skills for Self Sufficiency and a Sense of Personal Responsibility • Promote Self Reliance Crisis and Challenge • Assisting People in Crisis • Basic Needs Assistance • Helping People Facing Challenges and Adversity Connecting People in Our Community • Connections to Community Resources • Volunteer Opportunities and Promoting Volunteerism • Facilitating Collaborations and Community Problem Solving In the 2006 fiscal year United Way of Weld County conducted a comprehensive community needs assessment in contract with the University of Northern Colorado.
