HistoryUnited Way’s roots began in 1887 in Denver, Colorado. United Way of Weld County began as the Community Chest in 1940. During World War II the organization in Weld County was closed for a time but opened again after the war in 1950. Annual BudgetThe 2011-12 fiscal year budget is $3,242,838 million. United Way fundraising and administrative costs are covered primarily by contributions of Cornerstone Partners. Cornerstone Partners are foundations and companies who believe strongly in United Way of Weld County and recognize the power of their designated support. 2011-2012 Cornerstone Partners are: Flood & Peterson Insurance, Inc., KUNC Community Radio for Northern Colorado, Phelps-Tointon, Inc., QuadGraphics, Roche Constructors, Inc., Wells Fargo Foundation, Atmos Energy, Big R Bridge, Colorado Premium Foods, Farmers Bank-Ault, First National Bank, JBS USA, Professional Finance Company, Inc. and Vestas Blades America, Inc. Organization - Board of Directors and CommitteesUnited Way of Weld County is governed by a local Board of Directors of over twenty volunteers. Over 800 Weld County residents are involved on various committees and in year round activities. In 2010-11 fiscal year this total 7,126 hours of volunteer time. They are involved as volunteers in resource development, fundraising, resource investment, fund distribution, marketing and communications, activities, special events, program operations and decision making.
