Develops and distributes the annual Surgeon General's Report on Smoking and Health, coordinates a national public information and education program on tobacco use and health, and coordinates tobacco education and research efforts within the Department of Health and Human Services and throughout both Federal and State governments. Maintains the Smoking and Health database, consisting of approximately 60,000 records available on CD ROM (CDP File) through the Government Printing Office (Superintendent of Documents, Government Printing Office, Washington, DC 20402). Provides information on smoking cessation, Environmental Tobacco Smoke/passive smoking, pregnancy/infants, professional/ technical information, and a publications list upon request.
