The Traffic Enforcement Unit aims at enforcement and education efforts for the prevention of traffic accidents and keeping drunk drivers off the roads. The traffic unit participated in several programs in 1999. The HEAT IS ON program, intended to keep drunk drivers from the roadway. The DO THE TWIST program is seat belt education and enforcement. The CHILL is intended to protect workers in construction zones. The traffic unit continues it's educational program Traffic Tip in the Greeley Tribune and KFKA weekly radio station. Traffic enforcement and education programs in the City of Greeley resulted in a decrease of 5.8 % in reported traffic accidents.
