The Property/Evidence Unit is tasked with taking custody of property being entered into evidence by both Greeley Police Officers and Weld County Sheriff's Deputies. With this comes the responsibility to protect all property that comes under their control and to insure that a complete chain of custody is logged and maintained or both court and evidentiary purposes. The evidence must readily be provided to both the prosecution and defense upon request. The property itself may be provided as evidence for jury trials, as photographs from the scene of a crime, or as needed copies of taped interviews with victims, witnesses or suspects.
