The Women's Bureau was created by the US Congress with a mission to promote the welfare of wage-earning women, improve their working conditions, increase their efficiency, and advance their opportunities for profitable employment. As mandated, it is the only Federal agency designated to represent working women in the public policy process, and as such, advocates on behalf of working women to ensure that employment related policies fully address the needs and concerns of women in the labor force.
