Program/Service Notes:
The program offers the following services: referrals to on and off campus resources, short term guidance and emotional support, single parent networking opportunities, assistance in goal setting and decision making, social events for single parents and their families, educational workshops, a monthly newsletter, and advocacy. The Opportunity Center will provide an enhanced opportunity for single parents and other special population students to earn a higher education by providing extra support, guidance, encouragement, and linkage with on-campus and community agencies. By providing this service, the program will promote the benefits of a secondary education and will create a higher standard of living for single parents and their children. The overall goal and objective of the Opportunity Center is to provide programs to special population students that will encourage student enrollment, retention and job placement.
