Financial Well-Being
The Financial Well Being focus area identified the following issues that need to be addressed by the community:
Strengthen Earning Power and building a capable workforce
Lower education equals lower paying jobs. Education has a strong connection to economics. We have approximately 500 kids that do not complete high school in District 6 on a yearly basis which would be 5000 youth over 10 years. Helping our youth graduate must be a priority and how we educate our youth must be looked at. See pages 61, 63.
Improve job opportunities and wages
Weld County has to address the number of people who are unemployed or underemployed. We need to develop higher quality employment opportunities to increase wages and attract industries that provide higher paying jobs. See pages 48, 50, 51, 53, 54.
Decrease Economic Vulnerability
We need to develop a system to impact poverty so that we can help our most vulnerable populations. This system should provide assistance in helping people help themselves so that they can be personally accountable. See pages 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 90, 92, 93.
